Job summary

State of Franklin Healthcare Associates in Johnson City, TN, seeks a part-time clerical associate to support patient intake, enrollment, and billing processes. The role involves updating records in the EMR and assisting with patient communications and scheduling procedures.

The position requires a high school diploma and strong attention to detail; prior medical office or customer service experience is desirable, with basic insurance/billing knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and knowledge of grammar, punctuation and sentence structure are required.
• Previous experience in a medical office or customer service position is desirable.
• Basic knowledge of insurance and billing procedures, including ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding is desired as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Review demographics, insurance, and provider information, and update records accordingly.
• Instruct new patients to complete all required paperwork and create new accounts in the computer system.
• Obtain a copy of the patient’s insurance card and driver's license.
• Update the EMR and take patients’ photos.
• Provide the patient with the SOFHA payment and privacy policy.
• Answer patient questions and concerns.
• Schedule/Reschedule patient appointments.
• Collect payment and notate on the patient encounter form.
• Route telephone calls and record/deliver messages accordingly.
