Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to develop client relationships while handling technical work in Virginia. You review field and lab data, seal reports, and shepherd projects from proposals to delivery.

You will travel to client sites, coordinate with laboratories and field technicians, and represent the company at owner meetings and industry events, ensuring quality and profitability.

Qualifications

• Active PE license (civil, geotechnical, or structural) in the state of posting, or ability to obtain by comity within 90 days.
• 6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection with client-facing responsibility.
• A record of bringing in work, or a credible plan for how you would in this market.
• Comfortable pricing, negotiating, and saying no to a bad contract.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a book of clients for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
• Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
• Serve as engineer of record on projects you win: review field and laboratory data, seal reports and letters.
• Direct technicians and inspectors on projects and coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
• Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in your market.
