Job summary

Construction Material Testing in Virginia seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to blend business development with engineering execution. You will build and manage client relationships, scope and price testing programs, and seal geotechnical reports. You’ll lead project teams while pursuing revenue growth and maintaining quality standards.

You will review lab data, coordinate with the lab, and travel to client sites as needed. A strong sales and engineering track record is expected.

Qualifications

• Active PE license (civil, geotechnical, or structural) in the posting state or ability to obtain by comity within 90 days.
• 6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection with client-facing responsibility.
• Track record of bringing in work or a credible plan to do so in this market.
• Comfort with pricing, negotiating, and saying no to a bad contract.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a book of clients—general contractors, owners, developers, and design firms—for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
• Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
• Serve as engineer of record on won projects: review field and lab data, resolve failing tests, seal reports and letters.
• Direct technicians and inspectors on projects and coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
• Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in the market.
