Job summary

Joseph Michaels International is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the on-site team at the Windber, PA facility. The role focuses on delivering high-velocity SMT/PCBA production, transitioning NPI to full-scale manufacturing, and driving lean improvements across the floor.

The ideal candidate has 5–8+ years in PCBA/EMS environments with at least 3 years in leadership, deep knowledge of SMT configurations, IPC guidelines, and MES, plus ISO/AS quality experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5–8+ years of engineering experience inside a high-mix/low-volume PCBA manufacturing or EMS environment.
• At least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
• Deep knowledge of modern automated SMT line configurations, advanced soldering metallurgy, IPC guidelines, andMES.

Responsibilities

• Lead Manufacturing and Process Engineers; manage department budget, projects, and KPIs.
• Define, analyze, and improve PCBA manufacturing processes (SMT lines, reflow, selective, wave solder, conformal coating).
• Champion the NPI process from client design to high-yield production; conduct DFM reviews.
• Oversee selection, installation, and qualification of new equipment, robotics, and smart-factory tech.
• Drive Lean & 5S culture; use Six Sigma tools and root-cause analysis to reduce scrap and cycle times.
