Job summary

Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Massachusetts is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to support routine payroll processing and HRIS data management. You will collect time data, verify records, and input changes to ensure accurate wages and deductions.

The role is 40 hours weekly, largely on-site with potential hybrid after introductory period, reporting to the Director of HRIS and Payroll Services. Strong attention to detail and familiarity with Workday are essential.

Qualifications

• 1 year of payroll and/or timekeeping experience.
• Experience with HRIS systems, Workday and/or symplr Workforce preferred.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Experience in payroll, accounting, or administrative roles preferred.
• Knowledge of payroll procedures, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Monitor employee attendance and track daily time entries.
• Collect and verify employee timesheets and payroll data.
• Reconcile discrepancies in hours worked, missed punches, or incorrect entries.
• Track and maintain records of vacation, sick leave and other paid or unpaid time off.
• Investigate and resolve timekeeping and attendance discrepancies with employees and managers.
• Ensure all time records are properly approved by supervisors before payroll processing.
• Verify time-related adjustments such as retro pay, PTO corrections, and schedule changes.
• Prepare payroll reports (earnings, deductions, taxes, leave balances).
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and correct errors.
• Maximize technological capabilities to reduce manual processes.
• Respond to employee questions about pay, deductions, and time records.
• Audit timekeeping records to ensure compliance with company policies and labor laws.
