Indiana University Health is seeking a Payroll Specialist I to join our Payroll Shared Services team in Indianapolis, IN. This role centers on delivering responsive payroll support to team members, resolving inquiries on the first contact, and maintaining accurate timekeeping with a service-minded, detail-oriented approach.

You will work in a hybrid setting, accessing multiple payroll systems and collaborating with a tight-knit team to ensure compliant payroll processing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience preferred.
• 0–3 years of relevant experience; basic payroll experience preferred.
• Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency required; basic level.
• HDI certification required or obtainable within 6 months of hire (covered by PRSS).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for inbound payroll calls (50–130 calls/day).
• Resolve payroll inquiries on the first call by accessing timecards and payslips in real time.
• Create and manage cases/tickets in the shared services system for follow-up.
• Review, analyze, and audit employee hours for accurate payment per pay policies and FLSA.
• Navigate systems like Oracle, UKG, Teams, and Sharewell/ServiceNow.
