  • Resolve payroll inquiries on the first call by reviewing timecards and payslips.
  • Create and manage cases/tickets in the shared services system for follow-up.
  • Review, analyze, and audit hours worked to ensure accurate payments and compliance.
  • Navigate Oracle, UKG, Teams and ServiceNow across multiple systems.

Payroll Specialist I

We are seeking a personable, detail oriented, and service-minded payroll professional to serve as the first point of contact for IU Health team members calling into our Payroll Shared Services call center. The Specialist I role is primarily focused on inbound call resolution. Shift: Full time, Monday – Friday, hybrid

Location: Indianapolis, IN

The Scope:

This role supports Payroll Shared Services operations for IU Health team members system wide, including:

  • Serving as the first point of contact for inbound payroll calls across the organization (50 to 130 calls per day depending on pay cycle)
  • Resolving payroll inquiries on the first call by pulling up timecards and payslips in real time
  • Creating and managing cases and tickets in the shared services system for issues requiring deeper research and follow-up
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and auditing employee hours worked to ensure accurate payment in compliance with IU Health pay practices, policies, and the Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Navigating multiple systems simultaneously including Oracle, UKG, Microsoft Teams, and Sharewell/ServiceNow
Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for this position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

  • High School Diploma/GED required.

  • Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience preferred.

  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience; basic payroll experience preferred.

  • Requires experience in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel).

  • Help Desk Institute (HDI) certification is required to have or obtain within 6 months of hire (PRSS will pay for certification.
