Job summary

AppleOne Employment Services in Santa Clarita, CA, is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to process biweekly payroll and review timekeeping across multiple systems. The role requires strong Excel skills and a track record with Paylocity, ExakTime, and NetSuite.

You will ensure accurate labor data, payroll reporting, and timely payroll completion. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience, preferably with independent responsibility for complete payroll cycles.
• Strong understanding of payroll processes, wage and hour regulations, and timekeeping practices.
• Experience with labor costing, job costing, or payroll accounting reconciliations.
• Strong Excel proficiency, including working with large datasets, formulas, lookups, and pivot tables.
• Experience working with multiple payroll, timekeeping, and ERP systems.
• Strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn new software and troubleshoot system-related discrepancies.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines, prioritize responsibilities, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a strong plus, particularly for communicating with field employees, supervisors and branch personnel.


• Previous payroll experience in construction, landscaping, or another labor-intensive industry.


• Experience with Paylocity, ExakTime, and/or NetSuite.


• Experience with high-volume, multi-location payroll operations.


• Experience reconciling payroll data between timekeeping, payroll, and accounting systems.


• Experience identifying and resolving payroll-related system or data discrepancies.

Position Details

Location: Santa Clarita, CA Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Pay Range: $32-$34/hour (subject to confirmation)
