Job summary

Rally House in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage bi-weekly payroll for 5,000+ employees across multiple states and weekly payroll for a smaller group. The role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local reporting and acts as a resource for payroll system issues with vendors.

You will work independently, apply critical thinking to resolve payroll questions, and support field leaders with timely answers while maintaining confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll experience in a multi-state environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with payroll systems; Workday preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with high data-entry accuracy and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for 5,000+ employees in a multi-state environment.
  • Ensure compliance with state final pay and related requirements.
  • Process weekly payroll for a designated small employee population.
  • Audit complex tax setups, including multi-state/local scenarios.
  • Administer wage garnishments and liaise with agencies as needed.
  • Support reporting and filings with federal, state, and local authorities.
  • Troubleshoot payroll system issues and manage vendor cases.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from management and employees.
  • Identify process improvements and participate in special projects.

The role supports mandatory federal, state, and local reporting requirements, prepares and submits required forms to various regulatory agencies, and serves as a key resource for payroll troubleshooting and case management with system vendors.This position operates as an independent self-starter, applies critical thinking to resolve payroll issues, follows all payroll procedures, complies with applicable laws and regulations, and maintains strict confidentiality. Additionally, the Payroll Specialist provides support to field leaders and team members by addressing payroll-related questions.ResponsibilitiesProcess bi-weekly payroll for 5,000+ employees in a multi-state environmentEnsure compliance with all state laws regarding final pay and related payroll requirementsProcess weekly payroll for a designated small employee populationManage and audit complex employee tax setups, including multi-state and local tax scenariosAdminister wage garnishments, including order review, system entry, payment processing, and agency correspondenceSupport mandatory reporting and preparation of payroll-related filings with federal, state, and local authoritiesManage tax-related correspondence with agencies and employees to resolutionAssist with internal and external auditsTroubleshoot payroll system issues and manage cases with payroll system vendors through resolutionRespond to payroll-related inquiries from management and employeesCommunicate process improvement opportunities and global payroll issues to leadershipComplete special projects and additional duties as assignedSkills and KnowledgeExcellent verbal and written communication skills, Experience with payroll systems; familiarity with Workday preferred, Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, High level of data entry accuracy and attention to detail, Independent self-starter with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines, Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent3+ years of payroll related experiencePhysical RequirementsAbility to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipmentAble to clearly view and read information on a computer screenOccasionally lift or move items up to 15 poundsLocationOn-site in Lenexa, KSPay Range$60,000.00 - $75,000.00
