Job summary

CFS in Columbus, OH is seeking a Payroll Specialist to ensure accurate and timely payroll for a multi-employee organization. The role handles union and non-union payroll, maintains payroll data, and supports benefits administration and accounting tasks.

You will work closely with HR and Finance to ensure payroll compliance, benefit accuracy, and smooth day-to-day financial operations, including 401(k) support and annual audits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of payroll processing experience.
• Experience processing union payroll preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Strong Excel skills required.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried staff.
• Handle both union and non-union payroll.
• Ensure accuracy with pay rates, deductions, withholdings, and compliance requirements.
• Maintain payroll data within the payroll system and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Review monthly benefit billing statements and reconcile for accuracy.
• Serve as a resource for employee questions related to the 401(k) plan.
• Assist with employee education by helping coordinate financial counseling sessions.
• Participate in and support the annual 401(k) audit process.
• Perform accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions as needed.
• Reconcile corporate credit card statements and ensure proper documentation and coding.
