Job summary

Shields Health Solutions is seeking a Massachusetts-licensed Pharmacy Technician to serve as a Patient Support Advocate. You will help patients overcome barriers to care, assist with prior authorizations, and guide them through insurance and financial assistance processes.

This role combines patient advocacy, data entry, claims adjudication, and collaboration with pharmacists to improve medication access and adherence, while maintaining compliant records and providing compassionate support.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience.
• Massachusetts state registration or certification required where applicable.
• National certification (CPhT) preferred but not required.
• License maintenance is required to continue employment.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with insurance companies to facilitate prior authorizations.
• Help patients access financial assistance through foundations and programs.
• Navigate pharmacy systems to enter data, adjudicate claims, process refills.
• Document patient concerns and status updates across databases.
• Collaborate with physicians’ offices to ensure timely medication therapy.
• Maintain records of patient communications and case activity.
• Assist patients with insurance claims and resolve coverage issues.
• Provide phone support to patients to improve adherence.
