Job summary

Shields Health Solutions in Connecticut seeks a Patient Support Advocate and Connecticut State Licensed Pharmacy Technician to help patients access medications and navigate insurance processes.

You will support prior authorizations, financial assistance coordination, and pharmacy operations, collaborating with pharmacists to improve adherence and outcomes. This role emphasizes data entry, claims adjudication, and privacy compliance, with occasional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience.
• Connecticut State Registered and/or State Certified Pharmacy Technicians (where applicable).
• If state residence does not offer registration, national certification is required at time of hire.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong customer service and patient communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations.
• Assist patients in accessing financial assistance to reduce medication costs.
• Navigate pharmacy systems to enter data, adjudicate claims, and process refills.
• Document patient concerns and PA status across databases and EMR systems.
• Support patients in managing pharmacy insurance claims and coverage issues.
• Collaborate with pharmacists to deliver coordinated patient care.
• Provide phone support to improve medication adherence.
• Research and analyze information to support decision-making.
• Maintain accurate data in multiple database systems.
• Identify trends and propose process improvements.
• Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Stay current on industry knowledge through education and networking.
• Occasional travel as needed.
