Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Patient Services Representative for the Crystal Lake clinic. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week role involves greeting patients, registering, verifying insurance, and collecting co-pays.

You will answer phones, schedule appointments, coordinate outside testing, and act as a liaison between patients and the practice. The ideal candidate has 0–2 years in customer service, with a preference for those who have 1–3 years of physician office experience and working

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years customer service experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1–3 years prior physician office experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and handles arrival and registration, verifies insurance information, and collects co-pays and balances.
• Updates patient demographic information and company data for all patients.
• Answers phones and schedules appointments.
• Directs and documents patient calls as appropriate.
• Coordinates scheduling of outside testing for patients.
• Serves as liaison between patient and practice.
• Provides back-up for scheduling appointments.
• Performs daily work with patient safety and confidentiality in mind.
• Completes daily reconciliation to ensure charges are entered correctly.
• Pulls charts and readies them for next day appointments; files completed charts daily.
• Files test/procedure results after physician approval.
