Job summary

Mainline Health Systems, Inc. in Monticello, AR is seeking a Patient Support Specialist to join the Patient Support team.

The role focuses on preparing patients for visits, handling payments, and coordinating follow-ups within a patient-centered medical home model. You will greet patients, verify insurance, register patients, manage deposits, and support daily operations across clinic sites (Monticello, Eudora, Wilmot, Portland).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Secretarial training preferred; prior experience may be substituted.
• Minimum five years secretarial experience desirable.
• Ability to use current office machines and equipment.
• Ability to type a minimum of 60 words per minute.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and on the telephone with staff, the public, the patients and the medical staff of the community health center.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients courteously and address questions.
• Ensure patient confidentiality and provide necessary information.
• Answer and transfer calls or send telephone encounters.
• Inform eligible patients about sliding fee scale and required documents.
• Collect patient fees and handle registration/check-in/out.
• Prepare letters for patients (e.g., school excuses).
• Enter, review and scan paper records into the EMR daily.
• Participate in meetings and daily team huddles.
