Job summary

Mainline Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Patient Support Specialist to act as a key member of the care team. You will perform clerical duties to prepare patients for visits, handle payments, and arrange follow-ups, all within a Patient Centered Medical Home framework.

This is a full-time, non-exempt role in a multi-site environment. You will verify insurance details, manage registrations, and support daily clinic operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Secretarial training from a business/technical school preferred; substitutions allowed with prior experience.
• Minimum five years of secretarial experience desirable.
• Ability to operate standard office machines and equipment.
• Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute.
• Effective communication with staff, patients, and public, in person and on the phone.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients courteously and address questions.
• Ensure patient confidentiality and provide needed information.
• Answer and transfer calls or send telephone encounters.
• Verify sliding fee eligibility and required documents annually.
• Collect patient fees and manage registration/balance daily.
• Check-in/out patients and verify demographics.
• Perform duties to support primary health care delivery.
• Confirm future appointments and daily close-out tasks.
• Maintain lobby appearance and direct patients to services.
• Inform staff of provider schedule changes and emergencies.
• Verify insurance numbers and PCP assignments; process Medicaid referrals.
