Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; may be required by state guidelines.
• Phlebotomist Certification preferred; required in Louisiana.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and treat all customers courteously.
• Ensure all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures clearly and calmly to patients.
• Dispose of biohazard fluids and contaminated sharps per laws and policies.
• Accurately complete requisitions in PathConnect or other PathGroup systems.
• Enter patient, specimen, insurance, and billing information with high accuracy.
• Match requisitions to specimens; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze as required.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain sample integrity per protocol.
• Maintain daily records and PSC/IOPST logs; assist with monthly statistics.
• Perform basic clerical duties including electronic data entry.
