Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; patient access (scheduling, registration and financial clearance), insurance verification, billing or certified medical assistant experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA, and EMTALA rules; stay updated on pre-certification requirements.
• Strong math, communication, and critical thinking skills; ability to explain complex information clearly.
• Understanding of basic anatomy and medical terminology for patient referrals and authorization processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers in person or over the phone; maintain professional demeanor.
• Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and ADT software.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients arriving for appointments and monitor patient flow for efficient service.
• Ensure accurate patient demographic and insurance information; complete registration for walk-ins.
• Explain financial responsibilities and collect balances or estimates due.
• Refer patients to Financial Counselor when financial assistance is needed and support Financial Clearance.
• Process visit closures: schedule follow-ups and provide required documents.
• Maintain knowledge of payer requirements and pre-authorization policies.
• Contribute to a positive patient relations experience and support process improvements.
• Meet productivity and accuracy targets and collaborate with staff.
