Job summary

Ohio State University Physicians is seeking a Patient Service Assistant to support front-desk operations, greet patients, collect payments, and coordinate scheduling at our Columbus locations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of customer service experience.
• Strong problem solving and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to convey information both in writing and verbally.
• High level of interpersonal skills for sensitive situations.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors, registers and checks in patients, updates demographics and insurance in the system.
• Answers patient calls, relays messages, responds to inquiries, and communicates with referring physicians.
• Performs check-out processes including co-pay collections, scheduling, after-visit summaries, and follow-up tests.
• Monitors patient wait times and notifies appropriate party.
• Opens and routes mail; distributes correspondence and records; tracks data as needed.
• Requests and handles referrals and medical records from referring offices for new appointments.
• Schedules appointments as directed.
• Maintains cash drawer and reconciles daily cash; handles deposits.
• Contacts insurance companies for registrations or pre-certifications as required.
• Ability to use job-related software and systems.
• Travel may be required to other clinical facilities.
• Attendance, punctuality, professionalism, and customer service.
• Other duties or special projects as assigned.
