Job summary

Ohio State University Physicians is seeking a Lead PSAs to coordinate patient support services, answer phones, greet patients, maintain records, assist with scheduling, and handle payments. In this role, you will support day-to-day operations, monitor wait times, route referrals and medical records, and work with clinic teams to ensure smooth patient experiences; some travel may be required.

A high school diploma and at least one year of customer service are required, with strong communication

  • One year of customer service experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and visitors, registers and check-in patients, updates patient demographics and insurance coverage in computer system.
  • Answers patient calls, takes, and relays messages or scripted care directions; responds to patient and staff inquiries.
  • Performs check-out processes including co-pay collections, scheduling return visits, providing the after-visit summary, and ensuring follow-up tests are ordered.
  • Monitors length of patient wait times and notifies appropriate staff.
  • Opens and routes incoming mail; distributes correspondence and reports; tracks patient information.
  • Requests and handles referrals and medical records from referring offices for new patient appointments.
  • Schedules appointments when directed.
  • Maintains the cash drawer, reconciles daily cash, and prepares bank deposits.
  • Contacts insurance companies for registrations or pre-certifications as required.
  • Ability to perform functions using job-related software and systems.
  • Travel may be required to accommodate staffing at other clinical facilities.
  • Attendance, promptness, professionalism, and ability to pay attention to detail.
