Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking an experienced administrative professional to support a clinical practice, scheduling appointments, checking in and out patients, verifying insurance benefits, obtaining authorizations, and coordinating staff to ensure efficient workflow and patient satisfaction.

The role provides guidance to staff, mentors junior team members, and trains new hires, with a focus on operational efficiency and patient experience.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of related experience is required; a combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Detail oriented with ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/other email software.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including memorandums and official correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and facilitates communication between physicians and plans regarding authorization for service and insurance inquiries.
• Schedules appointments, greets patients, registers and checks in/out, verifies benefits.
• Maintains charts, records and databases; prepares correspondence, billing and reports.
• Provides authorizations, referrals, and general clerical support in a patient care environment.
• Trains and provides guidance to staff and provides relief regularly.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
