Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking an administrative professional to coordinate patient referrals, authorizations, scheduling, and related tasks. You will serve as a liaison among patients, providers, clinics, and external organizations to ensure timely access to care and accurate referral records.

Responsibilities include processing referrals, obtaining insurance authorizations, updating the EHR, maintaining logs, and communicating appointment details.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience in a patient care setting or healthcare admin is preferred.
• Strong organization and confidentiality adherence.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, and track referrals.
• Coordinate appointments with internal and external providers.
• Obtain and document insurance authorizations.
• Collect demographic, insurance, and referral records.
• Monitor referral work queues and follow up on outstanding referrals.
• Communicate appointment information and referral requirements to patients and referring offices.
• Facilitate transmission of medical records and referral documentation.
• Enter and update patient/referral information in the EHR.
• Maintain referral logs and reports.
• Identify and escalate clinical questions to licensed staff per procedures.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and regulatory adherence.
• Participate in process improvement activities related to referrals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
