Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience in front-desk or patient registration is preferred.
• Ability to collect payments and explain fees to patients clearly.
• Familiarity with health plan types and demographic data capture.

Responsibilities

• Reception, Check-in, Check-out (where applicable).
• Greet and assist patients that present.
• Follow registration/check-in policies and procedures.
• Verify/update demographic information (Physician, language).
• Know health plan coverage types (traditional, deductible).
• Check in patients using systems or manual records when systems are down.
• Determine membership/benefits per benefit display.
• Create accounts for workers comp, confidential, etc.
• Capture workers compensation data and select coverage.
• Document prepayments using notes function.
• Obtain patient medical record numbers when necessary.
• Order Health Plan cards as needed.
• Collect co-pays/fees and inform payment options.
• Generate encounter forms electronically or manually if needed.
• Direct patients to appropriate area after check-in.
• Check out patients per policy and on-system or manual records.
• Register exception-type patients (non-members, Medicare, etc.).
• Complete appointment forms per policy and access fee schedules.
• Explain co-pays/fees and provide directions.
• Refer to Member Services, Medical Secretaries, Business Office.
• Initiate forms (Release Of Information, Patient Financial Responsibility).
• Track referrals to specialty care as applicable.
• Demonstrate knowledge of PARRS and will-call area maintenance.
• Communicate with clinical and business staff as needed.
• Cash Handling, Reconciliation and Deposit per policy.
• Safekeep change funds, revenue documents, and cash keys.
