Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist to join our ambulatory care team. You will greet patients, verify demographics, schedule appointments and process payments with accuracy and compassion.

You will work under the Practice Manager or Ambulatory Practice Coordinator, providing essential front-desk support to keep care teams flowing smoothly and patients informed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certificate 1 Medical Admin Assistant Cert preferred.
• 1-3 years related work experience required.
• Experience with computer systems including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access).
• 1-3 years experience in a healthcare or service/hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors with courtesy, service, respect and privacy; serves as a central communication source in patient care.
• Performs check in, registration, scheduling, verification of demographic information and fiscal data; collects co-payments; schedules, reschedules and cancels appointments; enters referrals.
• Monitors and supports patients and visitors; facilitates timely flow; liaises between patient and staff for optimal service delivery.
• Check out and schedule follow up appointments; provide educational materials as indicated; visit ticket entry; medical records preparation.
• Facilitate billing functions; research information requests; may act as a group leader in absence of Manager.
