Job summary

MU Health Care is seeking a dynamic clerical support specialist to assist patients, families and staff, ensuring a seamless experience in a fast-paced environment. The role supports registration, scheduling and basic billing tasks while upholding our Culture of Yes to Care, Deliver, Innovate and Serve.

You will greet visitors, answer phones, manage records and coordinate with clinical teams to keep the workflow moving smoothly across outpatient services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 6 months of frontline customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with patients, families and staff to resolve problems that may occur during the visit.
• Greet, escort, answer the phone system, direct calls and support guest relations.
• Maintain the waiting room, reception area and offices; manage office equipment knowledge.
• Request, prepare and ensure completeness of patient medical records and physician orders.
• Support patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, batching and no-show management.
• Assist with basic billing documents and copay collections using ICD-9, CPT-4 knowledge.
• Operate or refer to IDX/GE, PCS, Cerner systems as needed to support workflows.
• Prepare patients for examinations including vitals and medication lists while coordinating with clinicians.
• May perform unit/department duties as outlined in department documents.
