Job summary

Neighborhood Health Center is seeking a patient service representative to greet patients, check in, verify insurance, schedule appointments, and collect co-pays at our Buffalo area sites.

Based primarily at Blasdell location, you may travel to other Neighborhood sites as needed. A high school diploma is required; English proficiency is essential, Spanish helpful. Starting pay is $18.50 per hour with benefits including medical, dental, life, a 403b match, and PTO.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• English proficiency; Spanish preferred.
• Able to learn new software and computer systems.
• Customer service skills and attention to detail.
• Must be available to work any shift Monday-Friday 7:45 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
• Medical office experience or medical terminology knowledge preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient information and update the computer system.
• Confirm appointment times, locations, and providers during check-in.
• Communicate delays to the front desk lead.
• Assist in ensuring appointments are confirmed.
• Assist in opening and closing procedures.
• Print daily appointment schedules and front desk reports.
• Verify insurance through epaces, heathenet, healthplex.
• Input insurance information including active/expired dates.
• Sends appropriate patient messages; assists patients in filling out forms.
• Collects co-payments including sliding scale nominal fee.
• Adheres to cash handling policy.

As a patient service representative, you’ll be the first person patients see when they arrive at Neighborhood, and you’ll help set the tone for a positive patient visit.

About the Role:

As a patient service representative, kindness and fairness are key as you use your customer service skills in patient interactions. You’ll collaborate with other team members to help ensure a smooth flow for the day. Responsibilities include:

• Verifies patient information and makes corrects in the computer system

You will be primarily based at our Blasdell location, 4233 Lake Avenue, and will also travel to other Neighborhood sites as needed.

Education and Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent

• Able to read, write and speak the English language. A second language of Spanish is preferred
