Qualifications

• Typically requires 1 year of experience in customer service or clerical/office experience, including answering phones and assisting customers.

Responsibilities

• Greets and checks in patients arriving for appointments, verifies and updates patient demographic and insurance information.
• Verifies insurance benefits, calculates patient responsibility and requests payment; communicates payment expectations at the time of service.
• Identifies patients needing financial assistance and refers to Financial Advocate; coordinates resources including Financial Obligation Form or ABN as needed.
• Monitors patient flow and performs visit closure, including collecting additional patient responsibility and providing necessary documents.
• Schedules patient visits using scheduling system.
• Assists with new caregiver onboarding.
• Works EPIC work queues following department workflow.
• Maintains excellent public relations with patients, families, and clinical staff; communicates issues and process improvement opportunities to management.
• Maintains knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and third-party payer requirements and pre-authorization/referral policies.
