Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Scheduling Clerk to manage patient appointments across multiple departments and facilities. You will collect demographic, insurance, and diagnostic data to ensure accurate scheduling and billing readiness.

The role requires knowledge of scheduling, registration, and payer requirements, with a preference for experience in EPIC, Excel, and Word. A High School Diploma or GED is required, and familiarity with Windows/Internet is expected.

Qualifications

• One-year medical office experience in a Medical Center or similar setting required.
• Windows PC and Internet experience is required.
• Associate’s degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
• Experience with Excel and Word preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain necessary data elements (demographic) to schedule appointment and enter the information into the scheduling system.
• Create a pre-registration for each scheduled visit including capture of insurance and financial information.
• Verify insurance using online electronic verification system or by contacting payer directly. Confirm eligibility of benefits such as coverage limits and effective dates.
• Collaborate with the physician offices to secure authorization, pre-certification and/or notification when necessary.
• Perform scanning of orders into the EPIC System for upcoming encounters. Provide instructions to the patient and/or providers offices regarding required preparation.
