Job summary

Cullman Regional Colon & Gastro Clinic is seeking a scheduling clerk to accurately enter patients into the hospital scheduling system and ensure precertification requirements are met. You will maintain guidelines, document relevant account information, and support team efforts to deliver excellent patient experiences.

The role requires a high school diploma and solid knowledge of medical terminology, plus at least two years of related experience; typing 30 WPM and basic computer skills are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. In-depth knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Two years’ medical terminology experience required. Phone experience preferred.
• Computer experience required. Must be able to type 30 WPM.

Responsibilities

• Enter patients accurately into the hospital scheduling system.
• Ensure precertification requirements are met when patient is scheduled and complete follow-up if needed.
• Maintain up-to-date records of scheduling guidelines from all scheduling centers and follow procedural guidelines for scheduled procedures.
• Document pertinent information regarding account handling, including researching prior accounts.
• Demonstrate and encourage teamwork and exceptional patient/guest experiences.
• Uphold patient safety and quality.
