Job summary

The Lutheran Downtown Hospital is seeking a part-time Registrar to support patient care by accurately capturing and verifying demographic and insurance information during in-person and telephone interactions.

Responsibilities include scheduling procedures, pre-registering patients, verifying insurance eligibility, obtaining authorizations, and collecting patient financial obligations while delivering courteous, professional service.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required
• 0-2 years of experience in a customer service role preferred

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients and families to address questions and provide courteous, timely assistance.
• Regulates schedules based on procedure requirements, physician availability, and staffing needs.
• Schedules patient procedures and pre-registers scheduled patients by obtaining accurate demographic information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility using designated applications, captures correct health insurance details, and secures necessary authorizations and verifications for services.
• Collects and records patient financial responsibility estimates as applicable.
• Communicates operative reports daily to appropriate physician offices.
• Compiles and organizes registration documentation to ensure completion of patient medical records.
