Qualifications

• Problem-solving mindset to assist patients and meet team goals.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, services and procedures.
• Calm under pressure in busy settings.
• Strong listening skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in MS Office; 40 WPM typing.
• EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate referral appointments with outside specialists.
• Maintain knowledge of health plan referral requirements for authorizations.
• Provide excellent service to patients in person or over the phone.
• Schedule initial and follow-up appointments for specialists and imaging.
• Document referrals to promote team awareness and patient safety.
• Compile patient clinical background and referral needs.
• Provide necessary clinical information to specialists per referral guidelines.
• Contact review organizations and insurers to meet prior approval requirements.
• Share medical information with financial services to maximize reimbursement.
• Remind patients of appointments via mail or phone.
• Assist patients with healthcare system barriers and interpreters if needed.
• Act as patient system navigator and advocate with carriers as necessary.
• Build relationships with community service providers.
