Job summary

TTUHSC Abilene Community Health Center is seeking a Patient Referral Coordinator to manage patient referrals, schedule specialty visits, and handle insurance authorizations. The role supports timely patient care and requires coordination with clinics and the EHR system.

Qualifications

• Associate degree plus one year of experience related to processing patient referrals.
• High school diploma or GED plus three years of experience in processing patient referrals, scheduling, or registration.
• High school diploma or GED plus five years of experience related to patient scheduling, billing, prior authorizations, or referrals.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the liaison between insurance and health care providers to coordinate patient referrals for specialty visits.
• Manage the clinic's patient referral requests to ensure timely completion for patient care.
• Schedule appointments for specialty consultations, radiology and laboratory testing.
• Obtain and send insurance authorizations and referrals for consultations and radiology.
• Respond to messages in the EHR daily.
• Verify insurance information for patients requiring consultations or testing.
• Provide updates to clinical team and administration on referral statuses.
