Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Phlebotomist Laboratory Assistant II to draw blood for diagnostic testing across patient ages and to process clinical specimens. The role requires accurate specimen collection, labeling, and entry of patient data into EMR/LIS within a hospital lab setting.

Responsibilities include following SOPs, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA and safety regulations while supporting lab operations and patient care.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
• Phlebotomy training and experience in an outpatient or hospital setting
• Prior experience in hospital laboratory receiving area
• Prior experience with the Laboratory Information System

Responsibilities

• Correctly identifies patient demographics and collects samples following SOPs.
• Performs accurate venipuncture and collects specimens for analysis.
• Label specimens with 100% accuracy and ensure proper sample handling.
• Enter patient demographics, test orders, and billing information into EMR/LIS systems.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow infection control policies.
