Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a Laboratory Hospital Phlebotomist to collect specimens, process them, and enter data, supporting the mission and quality patient care at our Fredericksburg, VA site.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, perform venipuncture and dermal puncture, ensure accurate labeling, and maintain supplies while upholding safety and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• One year of phlebotomy experience or completion of an accredited training program.
• ASCP phlebotomy certification desired.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Previous customer service experience helpful.
• Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills required.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients, visitors, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
• Performs venipuncture and dermal puncture for specimen collection from patients of all ages.
• Label specimens accurately and ensure proper specimen handling.
• Enter patient and specimen data into the laboratory information system.
• Maintain phlebotomy supplies and prepare patients for procedures.
• Answer phones and direct calls to appropriate departments as needed.
• Adhere to confidentiality, safety, and departmental policies.
