Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years of clinical laboratory experience or BS in Biological Sciences; MLS/MLT second-year student acceptable.
• For Lab Assistant students, MLS/MLT program must be completed within 2 years of hire.
• Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Enters and verifies test requests accurately and efficiently.
• Obtains, enters and verifies patient information accurately and efficiently.
• Assists with specimen storage, retrieval and disposal following standard precautions to abide by all regulatory policies and procedures.
• Performs technical duties including specimen processing and slide preparation.
• Assists staff with inventory management and restocks reagents and supplies as needed.
• Takes daily temperatures of laboratory refrigerators, freezers, and incubators as required.
• Assists with front phlebotomy desk duties as needed.
