Job summary

Memorial Healthcare System is seeking a Patient Financial Services Representative to greet patients and guarantors in hospital, ambulatory, or medical office settings. You will collect demographic, financial, and insurance information and verify it to ensure accurate processing.

The role requires excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Travel to other locations may be required; mileage reimbursement is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• No experience required; hospital, medical office or customer service experience preferred.
• Willing to travel to other locations; mileage reimbursement provided.

Responsibilities

• Provides exceptional customer service and addresses questions and concerns in a timely, courteous manner.
• Guides patients to appropriate destinations for services and assists with discharge tasks as needed.
• Obtains pre-certification and authorization; verifies insurance benefits and active coverage.
• Determines correct insurance filing order when multiple coverages apply; collects patient out-of-pocket amounts per guidelines.
• Explains policies and obtains signatures for regulatory and financial consent forms.
• May schedule walk-in appointments and referrals; may review AVS and future appointments.
• Interviews patients/guarantors to collect necessary information (ID, demographics, etc.).
• Ensures accuracy of physician orders and prescriptions when applicable.
• Prepares daily deposits and balances payments collected; provides patient estimates as requested.
