Job summary

Providence is seeking a Patient Financial Counselor for a full-time, on-site role in California. The position involves direct interaction with patients and families to resolve accounts, perform financial clearance, collect payments, and determine eligibility for sponsorships and financial assistance.

Responsibilities include educating patients, submitting applications for government programs, and supporting Providence’s Financial Assistance processes in alignment with the organization’s mission

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED.
• 2 years' experience in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare business office.
• 3 years' experience or proven success as a Patient Financial Advocate Associate, preferably with Providence St. Joseph Health or its Affiliates.
• 2 years' experience in automated, computerized account follow-up system, preferably in Epic.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients and families by phone or in person to resolve accounts.
• Perform financial clearance, payment collection, and identify sponsorship/financial assistance eligibility.
• Educate patients and complete submissions for State and Federal sponsorship programs.
• Assist with Providence financial assistance processes and reflect mission and core values.
