Job summary

The role requires knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid, HMO/PPO guidelines, and experience in patient accounting, with proficiency in Word and Excel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three years' General Patient Accounting experience.
• Minimum of two years' Customer Service experience.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, PPO and Commercial guidelines.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications.
• Excellent verbal communication and patient relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect inpatient and observation out-of-pocket expenses while the patient is in-house.
• Review Charity Pending requests and requests for itemized bills or claims.
• Follow up on Financial Assistance requests via email/Patient Portal/telephone.
• Assist patients with the Heath Exchange Program application.
• Schedule appointments to collect financial statements and funding information.
• Greet patients and provide exemplary customer service.
• Coordinate with outside agencies for patient qualification determinations.
• Assess payer source for admissions to maximize hospital reimbursement.
• Collaborate with colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
• Complete other duties as assigned by department leadership.
