Job summary

Tenet Healthcare's East Cooper Medical Center in Mount Pleasant, SC seeks a Financial Counselor to screen self-pay patients for eligibility across government and non-government programs. Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of work experience in Social Services or hospital admitting.
• Proficiency with Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screen self-pay patients for eligibility in govt and non-government programs.
• Identify payor sources (auto, WC, private, etc.) and route accounts.
• Complete Confidential Financial Statement forms and assist with benefits.
• Interview patients/families and document activities in the patient account.
• Perform financial clearance, including collections when appropriate.
• Follow up on government applications and coordinate with care teams.
