Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a part-time Financial Counselor to promptly assist patients with financial clearance before, during, or after treatment and to update their insurance, financial, and demographic information in the Epic environment.

The role involves explaining payment options, assisting with Medicaid or Charity Care applications, establishing payment plans, and coordinating self-pay balances. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with 2+ years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree.
• Knowledge of and experience using an Epic RC/EMR system preferred.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively with strong verbal and written skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with financial clearance before, during, or after treatment.
• Update insurance, financial and demographic information in the Epic system.
• Explain options to cover obligations including co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance.
• Assist patients with Medicaid, Third Party eligibility, and Charity Care applications as needed.
