The US Oncology Network in Plano, TX is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative to educate patients on insurance coverage and benefits, assess financial needs, and manage eligibility and approvals in the clinic's system.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum three (3) years patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding application.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and utilize correct terminology.
  • Must complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain insurance coverage info and demographics; educate patient on coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Assess ability to meet expenses and discuss payment arrangements; educate on financial assistance programs and complete Patient Cost Estimate form.
  • Complete reimbursement and liability forms for patient review and signature; forward to billing office.
  • Obtain insurance pre-authorization or referral codes prior to each treatment.
  • Review patient account balance and notify front desk to schedule meetings.
  • Ensure patient co-pay amount is entered correctly in system to collect it.
  • Verify and update demographics and insurance coverage at each visit according to SOPs.
  • Stay current on available financial aid; build relationships with providers.
  • Adhere to confidentiality, HIPAA laws and guidelines.
  • Maintain updated manuals, logs, forms, and documentation.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
