Job summary

The US Oncology Network is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative to join the Texas Oncology team in Austin. This full-time role supports the Revenue Cycle Department at 4101 James Casey Street #100, with standard hours Monday through Friday, 8:30a–5:00p.

The position offers growth to a Level 1 or Sr level, depending on experience, and focuses on educating patients about insurance coverage, benefits, and financial assistance options while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and company

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three (3) years patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent required.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required.
• Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding application.
• Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and utilize the appropriate and correct terminology.
• Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position.
• Associates degree in Finance, Business or four years revenue cycle experience preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years pre-services coordinator experience and two (2) years of patient benefits experience required.
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and appropriate application of insurance coverage benefits and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Obtain insurance coverage information and educate patients on benefits, co-pays, and out-of-pocket costs.
• Assess financial ability and discuss payment arrangements; educate on financial assistance programs.
• Complete patient cost estimates based on diagnosis and coverage.
• Process reimbursement and liability forms for patient review and signature.
• Obtain pre-authorization or referral codes from Clinical Reviewer.
• Verify and update patient demographics and insurance during visits.
• Maintain contact with financial aid providers and seek leads.
• Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.
• Maintain manuals, logs, forms; perform other duties as requested.
