Job summary

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is seeking a Hospital Based Patient Advocate in Charlotte, NC. This full-time, onsite position offers a Tue–Sat 8AM–5PM schedule, working in patients’ hospital rooms to guide eligibility for financial assistance programs.

Qualifications

• Some college coursework preferred.
• Prior hospital experience preferred.
• Adaptability with changing processes, computer systems and government programs.
• Professional experience working with state and federal programs.
• Critical thinking skills.
• Ability to maneuver throughout the hospital and patients’ rooms throughout scheduled work shift.
• Proficient experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel and Outlook.
• Effectively communicate both orally and written, to a variety of individuals.
• Ability to multitask to meet performance metrics while functioning in a fast-paced environment.
• Dress Code adherence is expected.
• Hybrid positions require home internet connections meeting speed criteria and remote work policy compliance.

Responsibilities

• Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to determine eligibility for federal, state, and/or county programs.
• Complete applications and follow through until approved.
• Document cases accurately in Elevate PFS and hospital systems.
• Provide excellent customer service at all times.
• Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts.
• Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
• Handle calls and track paperwork for enrollment and renewal for Medicaid patients.
• Maintain timely contact with applicants and government agencies by phone.
• Assist applicants in gathering documents and arrange transportation if needed.
• Conduct in-person community visits to obtain documentation.
• Inform clients of approvals or denials of coverage in a timely manner.
• Attend required training to stay updated on government program rules.
