Duke Health's Patient Revenue Management Office is seeking a Financial Care Counselor to support billing, collections, and patient financial services. You will analyze insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and help patients navigate financial options with compassion.

This role emphasizes accurate data entry, clear communication with patients and providers, and adherence to reimbursement policies while supporting the organization's commitment to accessible care.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
• Ability to analyze relationships with patients, physicians, co-workers and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Analyze insurance coverage and benefits for service to ensure timely processing.
• Obtain authorizations based on insurance plan contracts and guidelines.
• Document billing system and update patient data.
• Explain bills and provide assistance to visitors and patients.
• Explain policies and departmental coverage as requested.
• Process payments and reconcile accounts per policy.
• Admit, register and pre-register patients with accurate demographics and financial data.
• Resolve insurance claim denials and remedy expediently.
• Compile departmental statistics for budgetary and reporting purposes.
