Job summary

Duke University Health System – Patient Revenue Management Office (PRMO) seeks a Financial Care Counselor to support patient accounts, confirm insurance coverage, and arrange payment options prior to services. This role emphasizes accurate data entry, customer-facing communication, and adherence to policies.

The Financial Care Counselor will collaborate with patients and providers to resolve claims, assist with financial counseling, and ensure timely processing of accounts in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
• Ability to analyze relationships with patients, physicians, co-workers and supervisors; multitask and work independently.
• Understanding and compliance with policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Accurately complete patient accounts per departmental protocol and regulatory compliance.
• Inform patients of financial liability and arrange payment options.
• Analyze insurance coverage and obtain authorizations per plans and guidelines.
• Explain bills and provide assistance to visitors and patients.
• Update billing system with insurance status and referrals as required.
• Refer patients to the Manufacturer Drug program as needed for medications.
• Greet and assist patients, gather documentation for inquiries and complaints.
