University Hospitals Urgent Care is seeking a Patient Service Representative (Medical Receptionist) to serve as the first point of contact and manage front-office operations with a focus on patient experience.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, handling documentation, verifying insurance, and collecting payments while ensuring HIPAA compliance. This full-time role offers 3-day/12-hour shifts (8 AM–8 PM) and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Administrative Assistant certificate is a plus.
• Experience: 1+ year in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
• Skills: Strong communication, attention to detail, multitasking in a busy environment.
• Technical Skills: Experience using EMR software, EPIC preferred.
• Flexibility: Willing to work 12-hour shifts, some weekends/holidays.
• Team Player: Proactive, friendly, patient-focused service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Warm welcome and assist patients and visitors with a positive attitude.
• Maintain confidentiality while collecting and organizing documents.
• Analyze health insurance benefits and verify eligibility for patients.
• Determine and collect patient financial responsibility clearly.
• Support practice manager, providers, and staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Understand and enforce HIPAA and OSHA standards and guidelines.
• Perform office procedures and operate medical equipment as needed.
• Oversee quality assurance and patient result tracking compliance.
• Travel to other UH Urgent Care locations as required to support staffing.
