Job summary

Turnwell Mental Health Network is seeking a Patient Services Specialist to support front-office operations at our Yankton, SD clinic. You will greet patients, verify insurance, manage check-in, and coordinate scheduling across the clinic, ensuring a warm, efficient patient experience.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in healthcare front-office roles, familiarity with EHRs, and strong communication skills to work with clinicians and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
• 1-2 years of front office, patient access, or healthcare customer service experience.
• Proficiency with EHR systems; psychiatric EHR experience a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication with a professional demeanor.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome patients, manage check-in, verify demographics and insurance details.
• Schedule follow-ups, send reminders, answer calls, and route to appropriate team.
• Collect co-pays and payments at the time of service; manage faxes and messages.
• Perform pre-visit chart audits and verify documentation and authorizations.
• Maintain accurate patient records in the EHR and support release of information (HIPAA).
• Cross-train to take vitals and assist with patient movement when the MA is unavailable.
