Job summary

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a Patient Experience Representative (Per diem) for the Emergency Department. A 6-week, 40-hour training commitment is required, with day/evening shifts and weekend training. After training, you will enter per diem shifts with full flexibility during the training period.

Position emphasizes patient comfort, efficient scheduling, and professional communication. The role expects handling calls, triage, and coordination across departments to support patient flow

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Ability to learn new software and work across multiple systems.
• Excellent customer service and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide positive customer service supporting hospital operations.
• Schedule patient encounters and procedures across providers and departments.
• Answer, screen, route calls; triage urgent information; forward messages.
• Collaborate with referring providers to manage complex patient issues.
• Greet and direct patients, families, and visitors.
• Monitor daily schedule and patient flow to optimize utilization.
• Communicate with clinicians and supervisors to maintain smooth flow.
• Coordinate with Engineering and support services to resolve issues.
• Collect and organize medical records and admissions paperwork.
• Verify demographics, insurance, and referrals for encounters.
• Prepare requisitions and documents for reimbursement.
