Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Patient Service Representative at our St. Louis OB-GYN practice. You will be the first point of contact, supporting front desk operations, patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and administrative workflows in a busy clinic.

You will greet patients, verify information, handle registrations, and maintain accurate records in Epic. This role emphasizes exceptional service, confidentiality, and teamwork in a patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent customer service and patient-focused communication skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Basic computer proficiency, including data entry and word processing.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors professionally and respectfully.
• Verify demographics, insurance, and identity at check-in.
• Schedule, reschedule, check in, and check out patients.
• Answer and route incoming calls appropriately.
• Create, update, and maintain patient records in Epic and other systems.
• Process referrals and manage work queues for timely follow-up.
• Perform clerical duties: scanning, faxing, copying, filing, mail processing.
• Collect patient payments and reconcile cash drawer transactions.
• Operate front office equipment and support clinic workflows.
• Maintain HIPAA adherence and a clean, welcoming reception area.
• Participate in team meetings and training.
• Collaborate with providers, nurses, and staff for patient care.
