Job summary

Akumin is seeking a Patient Coordinator to deliver front-desk and patient care support across multiple site locations in Florida. You will greet patients, assist registration, verify insurance, schedule appointments, and ensure accurate documentation while adhering to HIPAA.

Responsibilities include obtaining prior authorizations, collecting patient payments when necessary, and coordinating with clinical staff to support smooth patient experiences. CPR and travel to mobile units may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• CPR certification may be required depending on location (mobile radiology).
• Valid state driver’s license may be required.
• Ability to work at multiple locations.
• Local travel may be required.
• COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
• Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
• Six months of customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Perform patient registration in systems.
• Answer calls professionally and courteously.
• May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization when needed.
• Schedule patient appointments and maintain records.
• Ensure accuracy of patient records and HIPAA-compliant documentation.
• Assist clinical staff with documentation and image delivery as needed.
