Job summary

Akumin is seeking a Patient Coordinator to deliver patient care and customer service across mobile radiology and oncology sites in Florida. You will greet patients, register them, verify insurance, obtain authorizations, schedule appointments, and document visits in electronic systems.

The role requires a High School Diploma, CPR before hire for mobile units, a valid driver’s license, ability to work at several locations, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire for Mobile Radiology and Oncology; CPR certification is a plus for Fixed Radiology.
• Valid state driver’s license required, as applicable.
• Ability to work at several locations required.
• Strong customer service, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
• Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.
• COVID-19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.
• A pre-employment background check and drug screen will be required for all offers.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients, customers, and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Performs patient registration in various systems.
• Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Collects monies for time-of-service patient responsibility, if applicable.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization, if required.
• Preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, including medical history.
• Transports patients to and from the exam room.
• Assists in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
• Provides patients with preliminary and post-procedure instructions.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Schedules patient appointments and obtains insurance verification and/or authorization.
• Prepares medical records for physicians, patients, and customers.
• Documents patient visits accurately in electronic systems and on written documents.
